Experts Dig in with Doggies for Dementia with Ron Nevelow-Isolation and Brain Health
Welcome to Experts Dig in with Doggies for Dementia with our special guest Ron Nevelow, co-founder of Inspire Senior Care, a mental health clinic. Today we talk about Isolation and Brain Health. Ron specializes in care of those in long term care although he is there to help a variety of people with both in person and virtual meetings.
The pandemic has resulted in the ability for healthcare providers, including mental health providers to visit with people virtually. The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in physical and emotional upheaval for many of us. The agony of loneliness and isolation can be far reaching. Ron Nevelow talks with Carmen Davailus, founder of Doggies for Dementia Foundation and shares some of the consequences of isolation for all of us including those with and without dementia in long term care. This is an important topic since various lockdowns in long term care and physical/ social isolation continues as we enter into year two of the pandemic.
Doggies for Dementia Foundation’s mission is to reduce stigma, isolation and loneliness for those impacted by Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementia by providing beautiful experiences and photographs, a platform to share their stories with others and education and awareness in order to better understand the disease. We do this from a place of compassion, kindness and love instead of fear. This also includes a bit of humor, and Ron’s approach fits our mission perfectly. Some of Ron’s clients are diagnosed with cognitive decline and dementia, while others have no decline and want to keep it that way.
Doggies for Dementia is a 501c3 corporation with a mission to provide beautiful experiences and memories for those impacted by dementia using photography. We are also advocates with sights on raising awareness through education, so nobody has to experience the pain of stigma, isolation and loneliness. We provide education and raise awareness with photography and the family dog so the world can be a more compassionate place for those impacted with dementia.
