Caring for someone with dementia is not easy for a family caregiver or the person with dementia. It is often profoundly challenging for the family caregiver who likely has little preparation for the monumental task of family caregiving. Some resources and support are specifically for the person with dementia while others are to support the family caregiver. Today we speak with Mary Osborne, an Occupational Therapist and founder of Your Dementia Therapist who consults with family members. She answers your questions, addresses your challenges and guides you toward success. You’ve probably heard how caregiving and the dementia journey is a marathon and not a sprint. Mary helps you to be strong for the journey today and beyond. Be sure and check out our chat in the video below.
People impacted by Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia and their caregivers require a variety of support. There are healthcare providers, perhaps specialists, social services, psychologists, support services, financial experts and/or occupational therapists depending on the issues of the time. We’ve spoken to many on our YouTube program, Experts Dig in with Doggies for Dementia.
It is important to know how these support services can make a difference in your dementia journey as a family caregiver and how to access them. It’s one of our favorite things because we meet people from around the world who have wisdom, advice and support for family caregivers and those living and impacted by dementia. Check out our RESOURCE page.
