Is Doggies for Dementia Too Good To Be True?
Introducing a remarkable 501 (C) (3) nonprofit initiative that might seem too good to be true, yet it is undeniably real and impactful. This unique program offers families affected by dementia a chance to capture their precious moments through free photography sessions, all while including their beloved family dog whenever possible. This heartfelt initiative not only commemorates the family’s journey but also raises awareness about the challenges of dementia.
By blending the art of photography, the companionship of dogs, and the power of storytelling, this program creates a safe and empowering space for families impacted by dementia to share their experiences, fostering a sense of connection and empathy within the community.
In an era where authenticity can be hard to come by, this nonprofit program defies skepticism by genuinely prioritizing the well-being of families facing the complexities of dementia. By inviting both families and their faithful canine companions to these photography sessions, the program doesn’t just capture moments but also encapsulates the bond between generations and their pets.
What Does Doggies for Dementia Photo Session Cost?
We offer our free photo sessions and SIX 8X10 matted prints to families. We also create videos and other wonderful perks in addition to this unique and special photo session with volunteer photographers familiar with dementia. We do not expect anything from families we lovingly serve. How do we do this? We are funded by donations, fundraisers, grants and sponsorships. We’ll be real-it’s not easy financially but our hearts are just so full when we serve families, the program will remain FREE to families.
Are Dogs Always Included?
We usually include dogs or other pets in the photo sessions because they help to create fun and candid experiences. In our experiences, images with dogs are more popular on social media than with just people alone and this means more people will read and learn about living with dementia.
We recently did a photo session with Bob who met his granddaughter Bonnie for the first time. Could it be any more precious than this? We used my toy dog, Molly for some images and they’re adorable because we included Bob and baby Bonnie too.
