Why Do They Do That?
Behavioral Expressions and Dementia and
What You Can Do with Guest Krista Montague, Dementia Success Path
Today’s episode of Experts Dig in with Doggies for Dementia is a great one AND we’ve got an exciting event coming up! Behavior issues such as sundowning, yelling, hitting, crying, exit seeking and so on are feared and difficult for dementia caregivers. Our guest Krista Montague digs right in to help those with dementia live better lives and support family dementia caregivers.
Behavioral Expressions
Behavioral expressions in those with Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia can be one of the most challenging things for family caregivers. Clearly, the person with dementia who shows signs of distress and acts out is struggling with something. What is it though? It might be difficult to discover, but we are here to help! This is an important conversation for all dementia family caregivers given it is difficult for some with Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia to express their needs.
Dementia Family Caregiving and Behavioral Expressions
Family caregiving can be a scary endeavor. There’s no question. There are so many questions about dementia–what causes it, what can we do to slow the progression, will I get it too and how can we create a safe and enjoyable life for our loved one. Most of us have not taken classes or have experience in caring for someone with dementia. Often our support systems abandon us, and this is especially true when there are behavioral issues.
As family caregivers, we learn as we go and look for support. It’s a marathon and not a sprint, however when there are behavioral issues, it feels like a mad dash as we try to help our loved one find relief. We at Doggies for Dementia want to support family dementia caregivers by offering information and wonderful resources and today is no different. Krista Montague with Dementia Success Path is a certified dementia practitioner with professional inpatient experience who desired to reach and support more people. She dove in to meet the needs of dementia family caregivers by developing Dementia Success Path-a program with tons of essential information for families. Krista Montague has a wonderful program offering affordable support for people experiencing behavioral issues. She is a certified dementia practitioner and former activities specialist and has a great deal of knowledge to share. You’ll get some wonderful tips and tricks today and mark your calendars for an upcoming event!
