Experts Dig in with Doggies for Dementia-Family Caregiving, Finances and Dire Circumstances
We recorded this special Experts Dig in with Doggies for Dementia (on our YouTube channel) after talking with Karen Eischen. Karen is a daughter, mother and professional entrepreneur who has a strong desire to care for her 90+ year old mother. It’s complicated though, and we believe her circumstance is not unique.
When It Comes to Finances and Long Term Care Placement, Families Hear…
It seems easy to just “judge” others. Imagine what it feels like when families caring for their loved ones Alzheimer’s Disease/Dementia hear:
- You should’ve saved more.
- Why did you take chances with investments?
- Why don’t you just take care of her at your home?
- Why don’t you find a cheaper place and move her there?
- Aren’t there places closer to you that might be cheaper?
- Doesn’t it feel terrible to ask for handouts? Who would do that?
You Need to Hear This!

Today’s guest is Karen Eischen, a daughter and professional. She is also responsible for her 92 year old mother who is legally blind and has mild dementia. The Covid pandemic created some unique challenges, however they were able to find very good care and not disrupt her mother’s life after the death of her husband. The problem is that money is running out.
What did she do next?
